IAfP Representative, Professor Motoki Takahashi of Kyoto University visited ICIPE (International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology) in Nairobi, Kenya (February 16, 2023)
Prof. Takahashi, the IAfP representative, visited the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Nairobi, Kenya and held a meeting with the people gathered to discuss cooperation and the relationship between African and Japanese universities. Kenya’s ICIPE operates the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF), funded by the World Bank and others. The fund provides scholarships to 291 African doctoral students in the applied sciences and engineering.
Professor Takahashi was joined by six people from ICIPE, including Dr. Moses Osiru and Dr. Julius Ecuru, and three people from the University of Nairobi, including Professor Julius Mwabora, and Dr. Mathew Munji from Kenyatta University, gathered in the ICIPE conference room for lively discussions. In this meeting, delegates discussed the future collaboration and cooperation between African universities, such as the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University, and Japanese universities which participate in the IAfP to build a platform for strengthening research collaboration, research, and student exchanges with Japanese universities.
